Victoria Jackson
Victoria Jackson, PhD is associate clinical professor of history at Arizona State University, where she directs the Sports Initiative at the Humanities Institute and is a Global Sport Scholar with the Global Sport Institute. Jackson writes and speaks about the intersection of sport and society; her writing has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Slate, Letras Libres (Mexico), Época (Brazil), The Independent (UK), The Athletic, Global Sport Matters, and Sportico, and she is a frequent guest on various media platforms, including an appearance on 60 Minutes. She brings a historian's eye to the project of designing future sports systems that are inclusive, equitable, and just, and is a leading expert on American sports policy, testifying twice recently on Capitol Hill, on the state of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement and about the pressing need to redesign American college sports. Jackson holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MA and PhD degrees from ASU. She is a NCAA national champion and retired professional track and field athlete, and would like for her ASU school record in the 5,000 meters to be broken asap.
